2021 Theme "Baltimore Rising"

Contest Rules and Requirements

  • At the time of submission, the individual contestant must be enrolled at a Baltimore City Public High School
  • Applicant must be a Baltimore City resident
  • One submission per individual for the 2021 Contest theme
  • Artwork created during the 2019-2020 school year with the intention of being submitted to the 2020 Courting Art Baltimore contest may be submitted in the 2021 contest. Students who have since graduated from BCPS, remain eligible to submit their 2020 entry.
  • Current students who created artwork during the 2019-2020 school year with the intention of submitting their piece to the 2020 Courting Art Baltimore contest may submit their work in the 2021 contest. Such students are also permitted to submit an additional entry based on the 2021 Contest theme. Students with two entries, however, will be eligible for only one prize, no matter the quality of both of their pieces.
  • No limit on submissions per Baltimore City Public High School
  • All works must be registered and the Artist and a parent/guardian must provide a completed  Entry Form before the Artwork is accepted.

Any artist planning to submit artwork should contact Brian Katzenberg, bkatzenberg@coseklaw.com to arrange the safe delivery of their piece prior to April 16, 2021.  Courting Art will work with students and faculty for socially distanced and convenient submissions of artwork.  Further details of the virtual event will be provided in the future.”

What Can I Submit?

  • Submissions should be a maximum size of 18” x 24 “and ready to be hung/displayed (matting of work is not required)
  • Name of artist must be clearly written on back of artwork
  • Submissions must be 2-dimensional drawing, painting, or mixed media
  • No photography.
  • No free-standing artwork.
